Santenay “Les Champs Claude” Jean-Marc Pillot 2012

Although known more for its white-based chardonnay, Santenay also produces excellent red wines based on Pinot Noir, absolute king of Burgundy. This Les Champs is a red with a lot of nerve, a proud representative of this denomination which is not recognized quite often as a source of great red wines. The Pillot version is rustic but of great intensity.
